A free, local Wispr Flow alternative
Wispr Flow made voice typing feel normal. FnFlow keeps the gesture – hold a key, talk, let go – and moves everything onto your Mac: no cloud, no account, no weekly word cap.

When Wispr Flow is the better pick
- You want AI to tidy up filler words, format lists and match your tone.
- You need it on Windows or your phone too, or for a whole team.
Why developers switch to FnFlow
- Your code and voice stay local. Whisper large-v3-turbo runs on the GPU; nothing is uploaded.
- No word cap. Dictate long prompts to Cursor or Claude without watching a counter.
- Jargon is spelled right. Add project names to the vocabulary and Whisper gets them right.
- Electron apps just work. FnFlow wakes up accessibility in Cursor, Slack and VS Code, then checks the paste landed.

Get FnFlowQuestions
Is FnFlow as fast as Wispr Flow?
On our M4 Pro, FnFlow puts text in the field about 1.2 seconds after you release fn, with Whisper kept warm on the GPU. Speed depends on your Mac and the length of what you say.
Does FnFlow clean up filler words or change my tone?
No. It types what you said, with punctuation. If you want AI rewriting, Wispr Flow does that well.
Can I use it at work with confidential code?
Audio never leaves your Mac and there's no account. Recordings stay in a local folder you control.
